Shitenno-mon Gate– Cultural properties of Yakuo-in Temple① –

四天王門(山門)

The official name of Yakuo-in Temple is “Head Temple Takao-san Yakuo-in Yuki-ji”.
Yakuo-in is a Buddhist temple with a history of 1,300 years, but there is a Shinto-style torii gate on the temple grounds, which gives a sense of the history of Shintoism and Buddhism.
Four buildings and two Buddhist statues on the temple grounds have been designated as Tangible Cultural Properties by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
The Shitenno-mon Gate is the entrance to Yakuo-in’s precincts and has a majestic appearance.
This gate was rebuilt in 1984 in the same style as the Sanmon gate built in the Edo period.
